Demons is both eye-opening and insightful. We all have those secrets we are ashamed to share, or hurt too badly to reveal. Mr. Seyler opens his heart and bares his soul, allowing each of us to grieve with him. Demons inspires us to realize that, to some extent, we must each heal, sometimes forgive, and start to recognize the atrocities that occur every day in our communities.

First off i want to congratulate you on being the person that you are now! I would have never guessed that you were ever a victim of child abuse. When I first began to read your book, i felt so bad that you had to go through what you went through. It made me wish that i would have been an older brother or an older friend of yours at that time so i would have been able to do something for you. I applaud your courage in standing up for yourself even as a young child.

Your book opened my eyes making me realize that this stuff really happens. I never knew of anyone that had endured a child hood of abuse up until i had read your book. Reading it made me realize how lucky i am for having the parents that i had growing up. I just want you to know that you are a great person and again, applaud you for your courage and writing a book about what you went through. I’m sure it was not easy.

You are definitely not a product of your environment and have overcome what you have gone through. Im sure that this will always be in the back of your head and will always be a part of your life, but you have definitely become a great successful person and consider you a dear friend, great teacher and mentor. This book is a true story of the power of personal strength, courage and determination that should be an inspiration to anyone, no matter what their upbringing. Todd’s journey to overcome the effects of the abuse was and continues to be a challenge, at times destructive and often lonely… but with each confrontation, something learned and the heart, a little stronger.

From juggling school, sports and work as a teenager, to obtaining a college degree and continually adding to an impressive resume that includes working with professional baseball and fighting as a mixed martial artist, Todd is making great strides in his young life and is also working to help other victims overcome the effects of child abuse by telling his story.

Victims of child abuse can be found amongst our schoolmates, our co-workers and our friends and many of us will never know how much they’ve suffered. When a child comes from a loving and supportive home that provides guidance, of course we’re proud of his or her accomplishments. But, when a child comes from a home of abuse and neglect and turns that tumult into a positive drive to succeed and help others, then truly, it is amazing.
